Tom and Debi relocated from Upstate New York in 1998 to Cary NC with their combined family of 6, they purchased the first beach house to renovate in 2008 at 405 Cape Fear Blvd Carolina Beach and then acquired the Historic Mount Vernon Inn in 2013.
Tom is a retired Army Sargent Major and Debi has a long career in Sales and Marketing and Customer Service. Together they have 6 children and 9 grandchildren along with their doggies, Stella and Loki, our Chihuahuas.
With the love of improvement projects and historic remodeling, Tom and Debi work together to first renovate the beach house and then the renamed Carolina Beach Inn, doing most of the work themselves. The renovations are carefully designed to be authentic in keeping with the history of the building while offering modern coastal charm and comfort.
The Inn was built in 1949 at the end of WWII by a family from Arlington VA and constructed to be like George Washington’s Birthplace and was name Mount Vernon. It survived Hurricane Hazel in 1954 when it was only 5 years old because of the sound construction and design.
The Inn offers 4 Suites on the first level and 8 rooms on the second level with 4 on the porch side, there are 5 different sizes of accommodations to suit couples and families.
We are eager to share our Inn located downtown in our charming little beach town with you and your family and your fur family too.
